Depression Initiative
Lifespan initiated the Depression Initiative in 2006 with the sole purpose of educating our employees, leadership and medical community about depression and the resources available to help. Special emphasis was placed upon the fact that with proper treatment, 80% of those suffering from depression can see dramatic improvement in just a few weeks.
The Depression Initiative has resulted in a number of innovative approaches to promote depression awareness and improved access to timely treatment. "Lunch and Learn" educational sessions, on-site leadership presentations, a community physician survey and providing rapid access to behavioral health professionals are just a few of the goals achieved. This Initiative was lead by Lifespan's Mental Health Advisory Committee comprised of expert behavioral health professionals within Lifespan and community agencies.
This website is a direct result of our community physician survey that indicated the need for information regarding community resources and patient management tools for office practice.
